Happy Friday the 13th! Let's celebrate with a workout! My trainer always tells me to always go "past the finish line." It's a training technique that really sticks with me when the reps start adding up. Since I usually do 12 reps of everything, I added one more for today - because I can! And you can too! Once you finish the core workout, the rest of this workout is my favorite format: a slow and controlled strength movement, followed by a fast paced activity that keeps your heart rate … [Read more...]
Why I Love Kinesiotape
It used to be that when people got injured, they were kept off their feet and resting for as long as possible. As more is understood about how the body works, the opposite is now true. WOD: Core, Legs and Back
Try this quick workout I put together to work legs, core and back! Be sure to read my notes on form at the bottom of this … [Read more...]

I like to do 5 minutes of tabata-style intervals, followed by 5 minutes rest for 3 rounds. You could vary this workout by doing more or less than 5 minutes, traditional tabata rounds go for 4 minutes. The extra minute adds an endurance component that … [Read more...]
Post-Workout Stretching and Using the Foam Roller
Here is a quick video demonstrating the sequence I use to roll out my legs. You can't add this into your post-workout routine too much - it's great combined with stretching or on its own. The roller is a versatile tool that will help you get more out of your workouts through increasing your flexibility and decreasing the soreness that occurs after tough exercise bouts. It smooths out and lengthens your underlying connective tissue that surrounds your muscles - your fascia - and if you … [Read more...]
