Need to Detox?
Have you ever had food poisoning? Or maybe a horrible hangover that left you feeling like death?
I ate something yesterday that destroyed me, kept me up throwing up all night until there didn’t seem to be anything left in my stomach (so sorry to be graphic!).
It can happen to anyone – and no matter what the cause its very important to take care of yourself the next day by replenishing and restoring your body.
I mixed up a very simple concoction that really rehydrated me, gave me a ton of antioxidant support and helped fight any bad bacteria that might still be hanging around.
Here’s my recipe:
1/2 grapefruit, everything minus the peel and seeds
1 cup coconut water
6-8 fresh basil leaves
Blend. Drink. Make another one later to use that grapefruit.
Coconut water contains potassium, an essential mineral and electrolyte, helpful for rehydrating and balancing the digestive system.
Grapefruit contains a phytonutrients called “lycopene” a powerful antioxidant that provides a cancer protection, and tons of Vitamin C, another highly beneficial antioxidant (plus I love the flavor and its very hydrating)!
Basil contains some really cool volatile oils that inhibits several species of pathogenic bacteria. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect, and helps reduce stomach cramps (and gas).
