There are several versions of the immune boosting concoction I make in the morning – this is one I’ve been making recently and I want to share why it is so great for keeping you healthy.
It’s just a simple blend of fresh squeezed orange, fresh mint, fresh ginger, nutmeg, (cinnamon stick optional) and hot water.
Here’s what makes this such a powerful, immune-boosting beverage:
Vitamin C is vital to a properly functioning, healthy immune system – and can help prevent colds and recurring ear infections.
It’s also the #1 water-soluble antioxidant in the body that disarms free radicals and prevents damage in the aqueous (watery) environment both inside and outside cells.
Peppermint oil has the ability to relieve symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), including indigestion, dyspepsia, and colonic muscle spasms.
It’s also a good source of manganese, vitamin C and vitamin A – including beta-carotene.
As a tonic, nutmeg cleanses your liver and kidneys, and removes toxins.
Nutmeg oil eases stomachaches by removing the excess gas from the intestines.
Nutmeg can also effectively stimulate your brain….eliminate fatigue and stress. If you are suffering from anxiety or depression, nutmeg may also be a good remedy. Nutmeg can also improve your concentration so you can become more efficient and focused.
Modern scientific research has revealed that ginger possesses numerous therapeutic properties including antioxidant effects, an ability to inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds, and direct anti-inflammatory effects.
